La régulation environnementale du numérique en France

Environmental regulation of digital technology in France

Summary: As of the end of 2021, two laws have given regulatory authorities (Arcep and Arcom) the mandate of supporting digital actors in adopting more environmentally friendly practices. Despite the introduction of a binding environmental data collection regime, reducing the sector’s footprint still depends on the goodwill of private actors. Nevertheless, the regulatory authorities’ role should be strengthened to regulate their practices. This presentation aims to establish the current status of the new legal regime applicable to digital professionals, while looking at whether the means implemented are up to the expressly sought-after objective: reducing the environmental footprint of digital technology.

Date: December 15, 2022, 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm

The seminar will be held by videoconference. Participation is upon registration only.
