To know everything about what multidisciplinarity means and implies in particular in our design disciplines, you are invited on Thursday, November 5th at 4 pm to a special codesign lab "tea":
Anne-Françoise Schmidt epistemologist and philosopher of science and Muriel Mambrini-Doudet research director at the lINRAE we will present their book published by Kimé: Epistémologie Générique.
This book shows what makes "science" outside disciplinary organizations. Our ability to characterize what is produced outside of academic disciplines is limited. Interdisciplinary initiatives are multiplying but remain difficult to transmit because they are based on the "intuition" of the instigators and the sum of "little things" that do not fit into the classical epistemological framework. It is the extension of the latter that this manual, written "à quatre mains" by the philosopher Anne-Françoise Schmid and the biologist Muriel Mambrini-Doudet on the basis of more than ten years of joint research, aims to extend. As the work progresses, the components of interdisciplinary science and its conditions appear. In these new places and objects of science, ethics is not set aside. Nothing in this book is "given", it does not rely on a historical trajectory, nor on examples, so as not to limit the desire to explore and recognize the value of experience in itself. On the other hand, the book is full of exercises (thought experiments, real-life experiences, visibility experiments, practice notebooks, experimental proposals), to "give a hand" to those who want to multiply "common spaces of science". This book is intended for academics or not, scientists or not, acting for a collective conception of our future world.
