Study day “Reconciling social justice and climate action: can we think the common peril?”
19 May 2022 • 9h-17h • Collège des Bernardins

The Chair "Theory of the Enterprise. Governance Model and Collective Creation" of Mines Paris, is pleased to invite you to the day "Reconciling social justice and climate action: can we think the common peril?", organized in collaboration with the Collège des Bernardins on May 19, 2022.

Whether at the national or international level, climate action policies seem to systematically face a dilemma between efficiency and social justice. Is this dilemma unavoidable, or can we design measures that reconcile climate action and social justice? This study day aims to analyze the foundations of the dilemma between efficiency and equity and to introduce and discuss ways to overcome it. In particular, the theory of "common peril", based on the historical right of joint management of "common perils", will be presented and discussed. This day will bring together researchers from different disciplines (economics, law, history, management...) and public decision-makers to discuss these different proposals.
