Bruno Latour, professor emeritus at the Institut d'études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po), former professor and current honorary member of the Centre de sociologie de l'innovation (CSI), is the recipient of the Kyoto 2021 Prize in Arts and Philosophy.
The Kyoto 2021 Prize, the Inamori Foundation announced, was awarded to him in recognition of his work in
Radically reexamining "modernity" by developing a philosophy focused on the interactions between technoscience and social structure
"Bruno Latour has revolutionized the conventional view of science by treating nature, humans, laboratory equipment, and other entities as equal actors, and by describing technoscience as the hybrid network of these actors. His philosophy re-examines "modernity" based on the dualism between nature and society. He has a great influence on all disciplines, through his multiple activities that include proposals regarding global environmental problems. "
